Use a tape measure to determine the width and the length of your rectangular area. Make sure you’re measuring in feet!
Be sure to write down each measurement as you go along so you don’t forget them.
For a rectangular space, multiply the length by the width. Remember: length x width = area. This will yield the square footage.
To calculate the square footage of a triangular area, measure the base and the height, multiply those numbers, then divide it by two. Base x height / 2 = area
For the square footage of a circular area, measure the middle of the circle, or the diameter, then use this formula: pi x half the diameter squared, or π x (d/2)2
